Apprentice production mechanic

We offer interesting and challenging training in a modern and future-orientated company.
During your 3-year apprenticeship, you will primarily learn skills and abilities in the following areas following areas:

Your responsibilities
You …

  • You will manufacture shipbuilding and steelwork components, assemblies and structures in accordance with drawings and work plans.
  • You will assemble, align and tack-weld structures made from shipbuilding and fine-grain steels, as well as chromium-nickel steels; ideally, aluminium as well.
  • You will carry out tack welding work on structures in accordance with drawings.
  • You will apply your knowledge of welding processes 131 (W22/W23), 135, 136, 141 FM1 and, ideally, FM5.
  • carry out oxy-acetylene cutting and joint planing.
  • Assists with the correct preparation of weld seams and checks that they are carried out correctly.
  • – ideally – draws on your basic knowledge and experience of flame straightening.
  • You will work in accordance with technical drawings, work plans and the applicable work instructions.
  • ensure compliance with quality and safety regulations.
  • You work meticulously and, together with your team, ensure that the work is carried out cleanly and professionally.

What you bring to the table

  • Professional experience in shipbuilding, steel construction or a similar field is desirable.
  • Practical experience in the assembly, tack welding and welding of steel structures.
  • The ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
  • Knowledge of the welding processes mentioned is an advantage.
  • Experience in flame cutting and joint planing.
  • Basic knowledge and practical experience of flame straightening are desirable.
  • Valid welding certificates are an advantage, but not a requirement – It’s your professional expertise that counts.
  • A meticulous, reliable and independent approach to work.

  • A crane operator’s licence and qualifications for industrial trucks would be an advantage.

  • You work with shipbuilding steel, fine-grained steel and stainless steel, as well as – ideally – aluminium
  • clamps and welds components in accordance with technical drawings

  • You straighten steel and metal structures using flame straightening.
  • You remove welding distortions from sheet metal, sections and assemblies.
  • You will machine components to precise dimensions and into the required shape.

  • You assess deviations and select the appropriate method for straightening.

  • Demonstrable practical experience in flame straightening.
