Mobilisation for TP Transport
Project details
MV Trina has been commissioned to transport transition pieces (TP) from the construction site in Aalborg, Denmark, to Eemshaven, Netherlands, for the Veja Mate offshore wind farm project. The wind farm is located in the German North Sea. It consists of 67 wind turbines, each with an output of six megawatts and a rotor diameter of 154 metres.
In twelve consecutive voyages, the MV Trina transported 67 transition pieces together with the associated platforms and anode cages. The type 176 vessel was mobilised in Stralsund at Ostseestaal for this long-term contract. All hatch covers and tween decks were unloaded for the 22 metre high cargo. Special grillages were welded to the floor of the hold to ensure stable and secure positioning of the TPs
The main objectives of the substructure design for the transition piece are to ensure the following:
- Safe and absolutely reliable operation during loading, transport and unloading of the transition pieces
- Staff safety throughout the entire process
Scope of work
- Creation of workshop drawings
- Delivery of the materials required for the substructures
- Production of the substructures including clamps and horizontal stoppers in accordance with DNV GL guidelines
- Production of the guides
- Delivery of all documents required for certification
- Delivery of the six substructures, guides and all necessary loose parts certified and ready for use ex works
- Supply of levelling plates to take into account tolerances of the TP sea fastening flange, the TP substructure
- Provision of a spare parts package for reliable operation (screws, clamps, clamping bolts, bearing plates, etc.)
