Projekt
Passenger ferry for a fixed route service in Berlin
Project details
The environmentally friendly ferries FährBär 1 and FährBär 2 have been in service since January 2014 on lines F11 and F12 and FährBär 3 and FährBär 4 since April 2014 on lines F21 and F23. They have replaced ferries previously powered by diesel engines and are mainly powered by solar power.
The ships are 18.5 metres long, 5.3 metres wide and have a draught of 0.6 metres. The catamarans can be operated at a service speed of 7 km/h and reach a maximum speed of 12 km/h. They are powered by electricity from accumulators, which each power a propeller via electric motors. Solar panels with a rated output of 10.6 kW are located on the roof. The 52 solar panels have a total area of approx. 66 m². In addition to this, it is possible to further charge these overnight with shore power.
